1- Visit to Akihabara
Akihabara is the largest electric store in Tokyo, where you can listen and enjoy the latest music records, play with the latest DJ kit and treat yourself with everything latest released in the gadget world. Language is not a problem at Akihabara as its staff is proficient in more than 20 different languages. If you get tired, you can experience the free massage on the latest and expensive massage chairs showcased at the furniture department of Akihabara.
2- Enjoy the view
A breathtaking bird’s eye view of the city can be seen from the 45th floor of Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office (also known as TMG Office) for free. TMG provides the great opportunity to catch the view of the Mount Fuji and Yokohama. It’s open from 09:30 am to 05:30 pm (07:30 on Sunday) and closed on public holidays.
3-Holy Places
There is absolutely no fee for paying a visit to most of the holy places and temples in Tokyo. Meiji is one of the most popular free holy places in the city. Other free shrines and temples like Imperial Palace, Jingu Shrine, Yasukuni Shrine, Sensoji Temple (located in Asakusa) and Zojoji Temple(near Tokyo Tower) are worth to visit.
4- Harajuku
In order to witness Tokyo’s youth culture and fashion at its most extreme, visit Harajuku on a Sunday. Take a train from JR Yamonte to Harjuku station, or if you are somewhere near shibuya, you can even reach Harjuku on foot. Harjuku comprises of Takshita Street, Meiji Dori Avenue and Omotesado Dori Avenue.
5- Drinks in the Park Hyatt Bar
Being in Tokyo, you cannot avoid the temptation of Park Hyatt Bar. It is a quite affordable cocktail bar, with great city view and exotic drinks.
6- Food and Refills
Despite of expensive restaurants and coffee shop all over the Tokyo, you can still enjoy the free coffee or green tea refills at Wendy’s in Ginza. Some branches of McDonalds also hold the sign of free refills, behind their counters, mostly for foreigners.
7- Higashi and Gyoen
Higahsi and Gyoen are the east side gardens of the Imperial Palace and being consider as one of the most beautiful gardens in Tokyo. There is also a museum with free entrance, housing emperor Showa’s art collection, inside the garden, open form 09:00 am to 4:00 pm. In case you want to enjoy free live street performers and bands, visit Yoyogi Park near JR Harajuku Station, on Sunday. In summer time, Uneo Park (near JR Ueno Station) becomes a paradise on earth because of its cherry blossoms and lotuses.
8- Latest gadgets
Tokyo is all about technology and latest gadgets showcased everywhere. In case to feel bang up to date with the latest technology, visit Sony Building in Ginza, near to the Sukiyabashi Crossing. It’s open everyday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Another place to try out the latest, for free is Odaiba, a gigantic car showroom featuring cars of future and owned by Toyota Mega Web. Its located in Pallette Town. It’s open everyday from 10:00 am to 08:00 pm
9- Free Internet Access
You can enjoy one-hour free internet access at T-Next Toshiba showroom, situated at the ninth floor of the Park Tower Building. The building is at the distance of about ten minute walk from Washington Hotel. It’s open from 10:00 am to 06:00 pm, and closed on Wednesdays.
10- 100 yen Shopping
There is at least one 100 yen shop in almost every district of Tokyo. With everything inside from food, souvenirs to stationery, all of great quality, they cost only 100 yen, usually open from morning to late night.
