In great contrast to the porcelain face of past times, todays Gyaru & Ganguro girls takes sexy & feminine to another level. According to Jonathan Ross' Japanorama on BBC 3, the Gyaru girls are Japan's "bad girls," I'm sure mom and dad did not approve of the look when their little daughter first started experimenting with it.
The Gyaru phenomenon is thought to get started in the mid to late 1990's. The look is influenced by the tanned and beach blonde Californian girls featured in TV shows like Baywatch.
