Chapter 2

The audition went well!

The good news for this week is that my audition last Wednesday went over superbly. The people I met were really nice and made me feel very comfortable. It was a nice surprise, because I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect in a foreign country. My boss, Nina, is the nicest lady I’ve ever met – this is quite a feat because she is full of sass and attitude! Only two people were in the room with me during the audition – Nina, and the DJ, Justin. I met some of the dancers in the dressing room when I was changing, they’re all really friendly and not at all threatened or anything like that. The EXCELLENT news for this week is that I got a callback almost the moment I stepped back into my apartment! Nina told me the job is mine!! I was literally jumping with joy!

Drinks and dancing until sunrise

Later that night, I went out as planned with two girls I’d met the night before – Giselle and Trina. I was so excited and full of adrenaline I didn’t even pay attention to all the clubs we went to – I just danced and danced all night long! We drank and laughed and made all sorts of new friends all the way until sunrise. We could have gone on longer but I was scheduled to start my first day at work that night, so I went home to get some rest.

The first day at work

Wow! That’s all I can say! Okay, I’ll spare some more details. ;) There were racks of outfits rolled into the dressing room on my first night on the job. They weren’t there on the day of the audition. One of the dancers, Jenna, was showing me the ropes since Nina wasn’t around that night. Apparently the girls try to come in earlier to pick out their costumes and music for their performances that night, or possibly the entire week. That way if anything unscheduled happens; at least everybody’s prepared to shift around!

My first performance was less than perfect

So I was scheduled to be the 5th dancer for the night, which was daunting because that meant I was going to have to warm up the crowd for the raunchier acts to come – my routine started off without a hitch but halfway through the music cut out. While Justin tried to fix it, I tried my best to look sexy without music but I was caught off guard so I don’t think I did a very good job. :(

The week since then has been smooth sailing!

Other than that one glitch, everything has been wonderful! I’ve met a lot of new people and I even have a regular customer already! He’s a really sweet guy and for obvious reasons I can’t mention who he is, but he’s not married or anything (as far as I know!) The weekend is approaching and usually back home it’s about the time I would say “It’s time to get out those partying shoes!” but it seems that all I ever seem to do here is party! I wonder if after this year is over; would I ever want to leave? Only time will tell! Until my next entry, party on! xoxo
