Ahh.. visiting the capital of Slovenia and forgot to bring money? Here are some tips for the budget traveller.

1. Ljubljana bus ride is free if you’ve got a three-day privilege card for tourists and
other visitors to Ljubljana. The bus will take you anywhere you want, including to the Ljubljana Zoo, where you can take a lovely walk and enjoy the animals.

2. Prešeren Square: The square named after the greatest Slovene poet, France
PreÅ¡eren is the central hang-out place for young people. There you can see the monument to PerÅ¡eren, Franciscan Church and The Art Nouveau facades of “Ura” and “Centromerkur”, which are characteristic of the square. You can always find a tourist group there and catch up on some of the Ljubljana’s history.

3. Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) next to the PreÅ¡eren square is a special feature of Ljubljana’s architecture, made up of an old stone bridge from 1842 and two side ones, and provides an elegant entrance into the Old Town. Next to the bridge is the starting point of the boat ride tours, which can be a great way to see Ljubljana and relax at the same time.

4. Ljubljana by night: Walk by the river Ljubljanica, passing the many bars and bistros, filled with people especially in the summer and decorated with beautiful lights in the winter. There are food stands every 50 meters and you can feel safe knowing that the crime level in Ljubljana is far below the crime level in other capital cities.

5. Bicycle ride: Using your privilege card you are entitled to a free four-hour ride and take a trip to the Trnovo, the green and artistic part of Ljubljana where you can visit one of the galleries and can use the card for a free entrance.

6. Restaurant Pri Pavli: Enjoy a complimentary schnapps or coffee which you are entitled for with the card or try some of the local food such as pork legs, »Å¾ganci«, »Å¡truklji« and »bujta repa«.

7. Ljubljana Castle: Take a 15 minute walk up the Ljubljana Castle hill and visit the newly renovated castle. There is a free galery always hosting different artists. For a fee of €3 of you can ascend the castle tower, from where you can take great pictures.

8. The House of Experiments: is Slovenia’s science center for both children and adults aims at popularizing science and proving that learning can also be fun. You can check out forty interactive presentations and experiments, and attend interactive lectures. Entrance is free.

9. Ljubljana Summer Festival: During the second half of May and throughout August, Ljubljana’s oldest festival hosts opera and ballet performances and concerts of symphony, chamber, jazz and ethnic music featuring artists from Slovenia and abroad.

10. Night Life: Global is a well known prestigious disco located on the top floor of the Nama department store building, where visitors are taken in a panoramic lift, promises »the hottest party above the city«. Each week the disco prepares a new program of events featuring hot DJ sets, beauty contests and other entertainment.
